xiTix : RFID KEY AUTHOURIZED IGNITION

The most common solution for such problems of driver identification involves using a key fob. A key fob is a small security hardware device with built in authentication used to control and secure to network services and data. The key fob generates a random access code, which changes periodically. A user first authenticates them self on the key fob with a Personal Identification Number (PIN) followed by the current code. This solution is one that is network dependent and not the quickest. In cases where network availability is compromised, there is a high chance that the vehicle is not able to verify the users key fob and therefore result in the vehicle not starting. This can also be time consuming.

We at SFT therefore suggest that we use a hybrid of local as well as network-based memory in this solution. Rather than the standard market key fob solution we suggest that an RFID based solution be implemented.

Each driver – RFID card will be unique and driver based. The vehicle will not start without passing the RFID barrier. The driver would have to use his unique card and tap the reader installed in each vehicle. Once passed – A Green light & Beep sound would inform drivers that the vehicle could now be switched on. A customizable time period – (eg. 30 seconds or a minute) until which the ignition can be turned on.

After this designated set time period the driver would have to register and pass his RFID card once again before which the vehicle can be turned on. This is done for obvious security reasons. Therefore to simplify it – Before each journey taken, the driver will have to present the RFID card to the reader.

All of this along with the GPS Vehicle tracking unit installed in the vehicle allows for data to be transmitted wirelessly to our servers there by allowing driver wise reporting as well as any required evaluation reports.

THIS SOLUTION IS NOT NETWORK DEPENDANT
